Garden Muse: An Evening of Gratitude

Event DRS and ICEBOX had the privilege of kicking off June with The Wedding Row at their Garden Muse Event, “An Evening of Gratitude.”   The event was held at the Thomas Bennett House to celebrate the hard working staff of The Wedding Row.  The annual event came to life with the help of Bella Bridesmaids, Madison Row, and Luke Wilson Special Events. Guests meandered through the gardens viewing an exhibition of designer gowns while sipping on Sweet Tea Vodka Lemonade drinks.  Event DRS highlighted the garden with striking white lounge chairs and vibrant tables accented with coral and lemon linens.  We hope that The Wedding Row enjoyed their momentous celebration and we could help them relax in style!

A Charleston Affair

Saturday May 5th marked perhaps our most colossal milestone to date with the commencement of Charleston Affair at the College of Charleston. 5,000 people, 120 bartenders, 35 barbacks, 2 semi trailers of beer, 200 cases of wine, 400 gallons of specialty cocktails later, the event was under way at the mecca of the downtown campus known as The Cistern. As a graduating senior of The College, I was fortunate enough to attend the monumental alumni event this past Saturday night. The evening immediately surpassed my simplistic college student expectations as soon as I entered through the ancient iron rod entrance gates. Glass strewn chandeliers hung low interlaced with Spanish moss from the ancestral Oak trees. Great white tents perched on the lawn were filled with savory snacks and sweets. Linen covered tables flanked the entranceway of the courtyard stocked with unlimited beer, wine, and black tied assistance. Finally a band was perched out front of Randolph Hall playing swing music throughout the entire evening. There really could not have been a better party to wrap up my college career. The venue, service and staff were paramount and this three-hour event was immensely memorable thanks to the teams from ICEBOX, Event Doctors and JMC! Thanks again for putting on such an unforgettable event!

This event was made possible thanks to the ICEBOX Innovative Beverage Services, the Dining Rental Solutions of Event Doctors and the event planning skills of JMC Charleston!

Welcome to the Party!

The weather may finally be cooling off, but that only means that things in our neck of the woods are heating up, as we are approaching our busiest season! We were recently given the pleasure of having the Charleston Mercury Lifestyle Editor, Megan Chandler, stop by our warehouse at 145 Williman St. (home to local businesses JMC Charleston, Event DRS, and ICEBOX Bar) to catch us in action. In an upcoming issue of one of Charleston’s most popular magazines, Ms. Chandler profiles the exuberant Mitchell Crosby, owner of JMC Charleston; Matt McKeown, CEO of Event Dining Rental Solutions (DRS); and master mixologist Boris Van Dyck, owner of ICEBOX Innovative Beverage Services.  The beautifully articulate article titled “Welcome to the Party” takes the reader along as Ms. Chandler is lead all through the JMC office, the Event DRS Rental Showroom, and the ICEBOX Beverage Lab as the three men converse with her about past events and the happenings of the three businesses. It was an honor to have the opportunity to bring Ms. Chandler into the “jovial exuberance” and “laid-back swagger” that encompasses the JMC Charleston, Event DRS, and ICEBOX Bar teams, as we couldn’t be more excited for the release of the issue! Be sure to pick one up and read all about us!

The Ultimate Critics Dinner

The Ultimate Critics Dinner

The Charleston Wine + Food Festival had the right idea when it hosted the first-ever dinner party at the birthplace of the American Civil War- Ft. Sumter. With tickets selling out in a day and a half and the funds raised going to both the Chefs Feed the Need charity and the Fort Sumter- Fort Moultrie Historical Trust, this dinner was a flawless, flavorful success. To honor the Civil War Era, guests were greeted by civil war re-enactors upon arrival and given the opportunity to explore the grounds and enjoy the sunset while the chefs integrated historical ingredients into the preparation of their meals. The Event DRS team had the pleasure of providing rentals that maintained the historical setting of the time period, such as our custom built wooden farm tables and our Paradise Platinum China place setting. With the level of success brought upon by the first-ever Charleston Wine + Food Festival’s Ultimate Critics Dinner, we can only hope that the tradition will continue for years to come!

Wedding “Cuppies”

Wedding “Cuppies”

The fabulously frisky fashion designer Betsy Johnson once said something along the lines of, “if it’s in style once, it’s always in style, just wait twenty years in between.” Well ladies and gentlemen, the times are a-changing as brides all over are seeking out “au courant” trends to add some flair to their wedding day. That being said, step aside, traditional wedding cakes, because there’s a new trend that’s stealing the limelight at wedding receptions all over- wedding “cuppies”. That’s not say that wedding cakes are out, as old habits die hard, but cupcakes are the perfect way to add that “little something” to your big day without being over-the-top. If we’re trying to get really creative, opt for both! A small-tiered wedding cake AND an assortment of cupcakes gives you the best of both worlds. With an abundance of flavors to choose from, you can ensure a “wow-factor” that will leave your guests stuffed and satisfied! Do you want to hear the best news of all? Event DRS is now carrying cake stands & cupcake tiers available for rent! Don’t miss out on this tasty trend before it’s too late!
